About Me
I am a software developer with a special interest in the process of ongoing improvement. I have a background in computer science and I love automating things. I am currently working as a software consultant at Betabit for the Rotterdam department.
Besides my job I am an avid reader that often finds himself scrounging for books. Another activity I thoroughly enjoy is playing boardgames with friends. If I’m not doing one of those things I’m either out and about doing fun stuff with friends or spending some time in the gym. I also enjoy the occasional run.

Experience
I am currently employed at Betabit. A company that specializes in software consultancy with Microsoft technologies and Azure.
They are based in all regions of the country and are driven to write high quality mission critical software for their clients.
My role is that of software consultant that is on secondment to help the clients.
I recently started on this assignment in a highly driven team with a rather complex domain. The team I work in is responsible for making sure all the data that goes through our application is correct, on time & where it needs to be. There are some interesting challenges along the way and I hope to add value and learn a lot.

My time here was quite short but I spent most of my time working on helping them move towards a new mailing system and made some Azure Pipelines to help with the CI/CD process.

This was my first assignment while working for Betabit and I remained here for quite some time. My main responsibility was maintaining their ERP system and implementing new features. During the last year of my time here I setup two new microservices that are responsible for automatically processing incoming data from an AI system and a dashboard like application that showed employees their pending tasks in order of urgency.

After finishing my first year I got the opportunity to help others learn the material they were struggling with.
This was a fun and entertaining job which helps you look at things differently.
Understanding something yourself is one thing, but being able to explain it to others is something entirely different.
I learned a lot during this period when it comes to communication & teaching.
